It Is Time....

It is time, it is time,
For My will to be done
It is time to let go
Of My precious Son
For a little while
Time to send Him down to man
Time to fulfill salvation’s plan
Oh, it’s going to hurt Me so
To let My only dear Son go
For a little while
Down to a cold and sin-cursed earth,
Where from the time of His humble birth
Hate will search to kill Him then
From the beginning He will be despised by men
For a little while
He will be tempted, scorned and reviled
How can I do this to My precious child?
Release Him to die by the sinner’s sword
The King of kings and Lord of lords
He will be mocked, rejected and beaten
At His weakest point the devil will tempt Him
He will dine with sinners, the ones men call filth
He will be hated by the people of wealth
Oh, how can I ever let Him go?
This is going to hurt Me so
But if He remains here, there is no hope in love
The blood of goats cannot be enough
To redeem the wretched human race
They cannot offer amazing grace
It will take a Perfect Lamb
There’s only one….the Great I AM
Yes, it is time, it is time…………
Time to show the people
Many signs and wonders and great miracles
The lame will walk, the blind will see
The dumb will talk, and some will believe
He’ll raise the dead to live again
He will heal sickness and pain
Cast out demons, comfort, cheer
Hold the little children near
And He will tell them of things to come
For the believer, a heavenly Kingdom
For the unrepentant He will tell
Of outer darkness, weeping, hell
He’ll try to make them understand
The reason He came down to man
Down only to be lifted up
Drinking from a bitter cup
He will be the Offering
Becoming sin, who knew no sin
Holy, perfect righteousness
Must bear man-kinds vile wretchedness
Oh, it’s going to hurt Me so
To let My only dear Son go
But I as I look upon creation
Groaning in their desperation
I know there is no other way
I must let Him go today
Long before the world began
I had formed redemption’s plan
How I love each child I’ve made
Soon My love will be displayed
In bloody streams at Calvary
While hatred screams, love sets them free
It is time, it is time
I’ve spoken to Mary, My words are fulfilled
Spoken long ago by the prophets of old
He will be born in Bethlehem
In lowly form, none will desire Him
A Man of sorrows acquainted with grief
Will be the Hope of those who believe
And yet…..by His suffering and after He has died
He will bring life; I will be satisfied
Death of One, life for all
Hope for everyone who calls
On He who poured His own life blood
My Jesus, My Son, the Son of God……..
The angels are singing, it is good, I know
I open My Hand and I let Him go………..
For a little while…….

His Unfailing Hand

When dreams lay scattered like stones in the sand
Beneath a lack-luster sky
When all of our wishes won’t heed our commands
And the well of good luck has run dry
When the songs we once danced to can no longer cheer
But weep ‘cross a barren land
Won’t you reach out to the One that is near?
And hold to His unfailing Hand
Oh, hold to His unfailing hand

When there is no music to brighten the way
And clouds over-shadow our path
The wooing of memories cannot persuade
The ill-wind to rescind its wrath
Blindly into the vast unknown
The roads of life command
But oh, praise God, we are never alone
If we hold to His unfailing hand
If we hold to His unfailing hand

Fortune is fickle and luck is a myth
And Time a relentless stride
Life is merely a prelude to death
And a door to the other side
But faith is not futile nor Hope without end
There’s purpose in life’s shifting sand
If we know the love of mankind’s greatest Friend
And hold to His unfailing hand
Oh, hold to His unfailing hand

Gift.......

Wrapped with pretty bows and paper
Laid with love beneath a tree
Delightful shrieks from little children
Lovely gifts for us to see
It’s so nice to give our presents
And it’s nice to get them too
Gifts; the Christmas way of saying
‘You are special, I love you’

Wrapped in love within a baby
A manger welcomed Him to earth
Angel hosts adorn the heavens
As they herald His holy birth
Heaven’s best; the King of glory
Gift of hope, promise come true
Heaven’s tender way of saying,
‘You are special, I love you’

Wrapped in flesh, battered and bleeding
Hung with love upon a tree
Gift of grace; a Savior pleading
‘Father, forgive; they know not me’
The greatest gift that He could offer
Wrapped in victory; ‘it is done’
‘You are special and I love you’
Gift of love wrapped in God’s Son

I got this BEAUTIFUL poinsettia from a friend today…..
It made me think of another beautiful gift.

Do You Know Him?

He is the Lover of my soul
In life and death He’s in control
His love and mercy has no end
He is an everlasting Friend
He is my strong-hold; He helps me stand
He is my Rock; He is my right hand
He is my Shield, my Fortress, Stay
More precious than gold, unfailing always
Do you know him? He who will bless
The seekers of His righteousness

He is my Shepherd; I am His sheep
He is my Comforter when I weep
He is the Vine; He is Salvation
The Beginning, the End, the God of Creation
From everlasting to everlasting
The Living Bread within my fasting
He is the Way, the Truth, the Life
He is Hope within my strife
He is a Father, kind and tender
Do you know Him?
My soul’s defender

He is my Deliverer; He is my King
He is my boasting; He is my Wing
He is my Refuge, my Strength, my Song
My help in trouble, my Corner-stone
He is Holy, He is Judge
And His decree will never budge
He is the Lion and the Lamb
Alpha, Omega, the great I AM
He is Thunder, He is a dove
Do you know this God of Love?

He is my Defense, He is my Light
He is Day within my night
He is my Healer; He is Grace
He is the Reaper we all will face
He is Humility, Glory and Power
He is undefeated in His darkest hour
Conqueror, Victor, He is Head
Of both the living and the dead
He is the bright and Morning Star
Do you know Him? This dear Savior

Do you know the One who died?
The One with pierc-ed hands and side
Do you know the One who bore
The whole world’s sins whilst He wore
Upon His brow a thorny crown
As crimson love and tears flowed down?
Do you know the One who cried
“It is finished” as He died
To set the captive sinner free
And give us life abundantly?

Do you know Him? This Holy One
Jesus Christ, God’s precious Son
Do you know this Friend of sinners
Who transforms losers into winners?
Do you know this God of love?
He’s down below, He’s up above
He holds the world within His hand
Do you know His love so grand?
Do you know Him in all you do?
I dearly hope so, for He knows you

Complete.....

The year grows dim
Fall’s gown is rent
The dashing hymn
Of May is spent

I laid a lily
On the tomb
Where once the bud
Of summer bloomed

Swiftly; how
The seasons fly
Faint glimmer now
Within my eye

Soon we leave
For fairer Homes
Than all of these
Low-vaulted domes

The year grows dim
Around our feet
The hope in Him
Makes us complete

Focus.....

It’s easy to lose focus
So much to do, it seems
Endless duties and demands
The taunting of our dreams
And sometimes in the evening
When we’re tired as can be
Do you hear Him whispering,
What have you done for Me?

Oh, I’ll admit it isn’t grand
But Lord, I guess you know
It’s not so much the things we do
As whom we do it for
Oh, God help us remember
That no matter what we do
No task will be too worthless
If we’re doing it for You

It seems these days Your worship
Comes with many modern names
Well, we can worship everywhere
You’ll hear it just the same
It does not require a suit
Or a specific art
Lord, You look for the attitude
Deep within our heart

Yes, it’s easy to lose focus
If we lose the Focal Point
If we never kneel and pray
If Your Words do not appoint
Tis easy then to be dismayed
And lose our purpose too
Teach us how to live each day
In gratitude to You

One of my children asked me recently
"How can you stand being at home and
Doing the same old thing EVERY DAY????"

I smiled a little, and then I told her if I was only doing it
For her or me I would go crazy, but believe it or not
I can turn floor scrubbing into worship time,
Cleaning time into prayer time..
that makes everything I do purposeful…..
Because we do it for a much higher calling.
I asked her if she does the same at school?

For Us.....

Cold and cruel the little bed
That cradled first Redemption’s head
In Bethlehem, where starlight led
Believers to his side
FOR US, FOR US PERFECTION CAME
They said Jesus is His name
Clothed in lowly, mortal frame
While angels glorified

The bird hath nest; the fox a bed
The Son hath naught to lay His head
He lived each day for us instead
Throngs followed Him in awe
He healed the sick, the blind and lame
They said Jesus is His name
Revealed to Pharisees their shame
As they clung to the Law

Cold and cruel, the rugged tree
Where they nailed Immortality
Here Redemption’s blood flowed free
From Jesus, God’s dear Son
FOR US, FOR US PERFECTION DIED
King of Glory, crucified
Hear Him, hear Him as He cried
“Abba, it is done”

Cold and cruel, the borrowed tomb
Where they laid the Holy Groom
Sealed the doorway with a stone
Man’s hatred satisfied
FOR US, FOR US PERFECTION ROSE
Stone could never hold Him close
Heaven’s best redeemed earth’s worst
A pure and spotless Bride

Cold and cruel, this darkened sod
Weary, worn the pilgrims trod
With their faces turned to God
The Hope which lights our way
FOR US, FOR US PERFECTION WAITS
Lingering at Heaven’s gates
When we see Him t’will be too late
To then fall down and pray

Without God............

All for naught, all for naught
Every little thing I’ve got
Every hill that I will climb
Every ticking mark of Time
Every step that I have trod
All for nothing
Without God

All for naught, all for naught
Every little dream I sought
Every goal I’ve conquered then
Every plaudit gained by men
Every footprint on earth’s sod
All for nothing
Without God

All for naught, all for naught
Every sacrifice I’ve brought
Given; not in humble love
But my selfish worth to prove
Oh, how useless mortal laud
All for nothing
Without God

Without God, without God
Every breath is all for naught
Every venture and acclaim
Simply titles to my shame
What a sad and empty lot
If I live it
Without God

In Heaven......

We won’t hear words like ‘that’s okay’
Or, ‘tomorrow will be a better day’
No ‘over-drawn’ or ‘over-due’ in Heaven
We won’t hear ‘it’ll be alright’
Why, we won’t even hear ‘good-night’
We’re gonna speak a brand new tongue….. in Heaven

‘I’m sorry’ and ‘don’t worry’ will be obsolete
It’ll be glory, glory when at last we meet
Dancing on a golden street, in Heaven
We won’t ask for Tylenol or any medicine at all
No band-aids, pills or hospital
We’re gonna have brand new bodies…..in Heaven

No foot in my mouth disease
No ‘will you forgive me, please’
At last we’ll be perfect righteousness…..in Heaven
No diets, fads or fashion rules
Hey kids, there won’t be any schools
Cause there aint gonna be no fools…..in Heaven

Are ya’ thinkin’ it’ll be grand
When we get to that sweet land?
Are ya’ thinkin’ you wanna be there too…..in Heaven?
There’s just one way to that fair place
You gotta believe in Amazing Grace
It’s the only way we’ll see God’s face…..in Heaven

Almost Persuaded.........

Almost persuaded, was I to believe
In a God who died for me
Almost I was willing to receive
His gift of love so free
Almost I believed in Him……
A King who left His throne
To become the Perfect Lamb
Our sin-stains to atone

Almost, almost I believed
In the One who died for me
But almost now will never be
Enough in death to set me free

Almost, I bowed my head to weep
Repentant of my sin
Almost, almost this straying sheep
Joined the ninety-nine
But it seems that life distracted me
From that One perfect love
In anguish now I sadly see
Almost is not enough

Almost, almost, I said ‘yes
Yes Lord, I believe
But almost is vain foolishness
No mercy can it give

Whoever believes on Him shall have
Everlasting life
Hope beyond the cold, dark grave
And in this fleeting strife
Whosoever will come to Him
He will not cast away
Almost is a hopeless gleam
If we never say……..

“Yes, oh Lord, yes I believe
Accept my humble plea”
Almost persuaded cannot be enough
Now to deliver me……….

Janet~

God commends His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us [ROM 5:8].
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world: but that the world through Him might be saved [JOH 3:16, 17].
He is the lover of our souls.
The Son of God, Who loved me, and gave Himself for me [GAL 2:20].
Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest [MAT 11:28].
This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners [1TI 1:15].
He is the Savior of all who believe in Him.
Christ also once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God [1PE 3:18].
The wages of sin is death: but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord [ROM 6:23].
Be it known to you therefore ... that through this Man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins and by Him all who believe are justified from all things [ACT 13:38, 39].
He is the risen, living Savior Who is able to save ALL who come to Him.
Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost who come unto God by Him seeing He ever lives to make intercession for them [HEB 7:25].
Jesus said I am the resurrection and the life: he who believes on Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live [JOH 11:25].
I am the door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved ... And I give to them eternal life and they shall never perish [JOH 10:9, 28].
He is the One who now invites you to receive Him as your Savior.
If you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and will believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved [ROM 10:9].
He who comes to Me I will in no wise cast out ... Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes on Me has everlasting life [JOH 6:37, 47].
He is the One Who will judge in righteousness all those who refuse His salvation.
He who believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he who believes not the Son shall not see life: but the wrath of God abides on him [JOH 3:36].
God ... now commands all men everywhere to repent: because He has appointed a day, in which He will judge the world in righteousness by that Man Whom He has ordained [ACT 17:20, 31].

Softly, at the Brink of Night.....

Softly, at the brink of night
The purple daylight sighs
Soundlessly, the fading light
Deepens in my eyes
Far above the stars come out
To deck the midnight sea
How can feeble man yet doubt
Our God’s infinity?

From pale blue shades to purple blue
Then crimson, orange and gold
The sky, a fiery avenue
Of splendor o’er the world
No man however wise he be
Can ever prophecy
What will be the artistry
That paints the evening sky

But we know who the Artist is
Though some men may deny
Someday they’ll fall upon their knees
As He breaks through this sky
The gold and amber-crested lake
Deepens to aqua-blue
Before the darkness over-takes
The lofty avenue

Softly, at the brink of night
I lift a thankful gaze
To the Awesome Power and Might
Which sets the sky a-blaze
Far above, the stars come out
I breathe a thankful prayer
For I know there is no doubt
That God is watching there

Candle....

This world can be a weary place
Wrought with pain and woe
Hunger lines the searching face
And darkness numbs the soul
But just as in the days of old
So, in the days to come
There is a candle we can hold
That brings the traveler Home

The lost and blind drift to and fro
As driven by the wind
They are not sure which way to go
No solace can they find
Has no one shown to them the Light?
No storm can ever snuff
Constant in the thickest fight
This candle is enough

The Word of God, faithful and true
Will never pass away
Pure, changeless light for me and you
In this dark, evil day
No matter how violent the gale
No matter where we roam
This candle, it will never fail
And it will lead us Home

Treasure...........

We cared once for things as these…………
The mighty ships, the wood of trees
Skyscrapers, bridges, the tower and plane
The high and the lowly, the quest for gain
We sought for answers, and meager delights
We worshipped; but One knows where we set those sights
We cared about beauty; the youthful and bold
Before cheeks were pallid and eyelids cold………..

Once, we strolled the golden sands
Controlled by duty and demands
Of great import these rulers then
We dreamed; revered the goals of men
Once, life held the master key
To hope and opportunity
We cared so much for much it seems
Yet all is naught as twilight gleams

We sought once for things called things
Believed in happiness of kings
If we could hoard of things, enough
And be the lord of all our stuff………..
How paltry now its measure lies
As we gaze upward at the skies
How futile, this brief earthly quest
If we believe earth holds life’s best

Purpose..........

Across the frigid dawn a pale glow leaks
To speak of labor to the common man
Arise, arise cast off the slumbering cheeks
The hovering night will soon be here again
And there are many mouths to feed
And there are many things we need
We cannot bask in slothful ease
Or lay in careless laziness

The anonymity of yester-years
And Time itself cannot command
Soon, too soon the End of things appears
To still the diligence of our hand
Ah, what is life but the bud of death?
What is the purpose of each breath?
The silent past taunts in reply
As daylight spawns across the sky

Still, the present pivots on the past
The future is not loaned to anyone
We must work before night shades are cast
And we slumber ‘neath the shoulder of a stone
Ah, what is life; a tirade to an early grave?
Whilst man appoints the master and the slave?
Who anoints Life’s purpose, ah pray tell?
Hence we awake, in Heaven or in hell

Above the wave hovers a white-winged gull
Yet it, as Time dissolves into the blue
Flesh is but a temporary hull
Before the fruit of our life is due
Man that is born of woman soon must die
As Time meets with its Maker in the sky
The work of hands cannot redeem us then
Life’s purpose lies not in the hearts of men

All man’s efforts are for his mouth

Consider what God has done:
Who can straighten what he has made crooked? Eccles.7:13

For it is be grace you have been saved through faith.
....and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God
---not by works, so that no one can boast.
For we are God's workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephes.2:8-10

Beyond These Hills.....

The hills appear stark in the distance
Looming against the vast skies
As twilight spreads over a landscape
Where life is born and dies
Countless the generations
Dancing across this earth’s grass
Fleeting is mans existence
As to the ‘beyond’ they pass
For just as there is a beginning
An end must also be
But the end is again a beginning……………
…………..Of eternity
A boundless expanse, eternity
Our minds cannot comprehend
The vastness of its infinity

When All the Wars are Done....

When all the wars are done
No more blood-shed, no firing of gun
No counting the dead in the red battle-field
No hatred and dread in battalions concealed
Proud flies the banner as the Victor is revealed
When all of the wars are done

When all of the wars are done
We’ll lift our eyes to behold a Great Throne
As the stars fall from heaven in fiery tears
And the elements tremble as the Rider appears
With a loud trumpet call every nation shall hear
When all of the wars are done

When all of the wars are done
We will behold both Father and Son
In power and glory on clouds in the sky
He shall be seen by every eye
‘and all of the peoples of earth will cry’
When all of the wars are done

And has made us to be a kingdom
And priests to serve his God and Father----

And every eye shall see him

Dwelling Place

He could have had a mansion
The best this world could give
The King of all creation
Could choose where He would live
The Hand that formed the mountain
And urged the rushing stream
Decked the blue pavilion
And gave the star its gleam

He could have had a palace
The mighty King of kings
He clothed the hills and valleys
And taught the birds to sing
He could have had a castle
The best earth could afford
Still would have been too humble
To house the lord of lords

He could have chosen Heaven
And never left His throne
For there can be no mansion
Worthy of God’s own
He could have lived above us
In heavenly majesty
But heaven's most Beloved
Has chosen you and me

He chose a lowly temple
A temple made of dust
And here He makes his dwelling
This God in whom we trust
He could have had a mansion
The best that there could be
I cannot understand it
But He chose you and me
Praise God, He loves us so much
That He chose you and me!

Do you not know that your body
Is the temple of the Holy Spirit
Who is in you, who you have received from God?
You are not your own;
You were bought with a price.
Therefore honor God with your body. 1 Cor. 6:19-20

a new set of words formed in my mind.

He Will Do the Rest

It’s easy to become discouraged
As we view the road ahead
It takes a lot of courage
To face those hills we dread
It seems that our own might
Is soon so very small
And if we rely upon it
We are surely doomed to fall

But there’s one thing that we can do
As we face every test
We can pray each other through
And God will do the rest
If we place our own wee hand
Into His gracious palm
He lifts us up and helps us stand
Oh my God, lead on

So let’s pray for each other
And not neglect this power
Encouraging each other
Within this darkened hour
For there is hope for sinners
Who trust love’s very best
And if we call upon His name
He will do the rest

Momentary..............

Like that time you stubbed your toe
Or missed the wood when you swung the axe
And you groaned and moaned ‘cause it really hurt
But life is just like that
Remember that face plant into the dirt
When you slid into second base
Those first few moments; how they stung and hurt
As you wiped unbidden tears from your face
But life is just like that
Remember the satisfaction and pride
The elation and joy of success
How the excitement bubbled from deep inside
In a well-spring of happiness
Remember the pleasure of saying thank-you
For the compliments and praise
As a sense of deliverance rolled over you
In a sweet, satisfying haze
But that was yesterday, before the dismay
Of chapters two and three
As you realize the fleeting prize
Of momentary security
Momentary pleasure, momentary pain
Earthly treasure is stored in vain
Momentary victory, momentary defeat
Momentary shadows or sunny retreat
But life is just like that
A sequence of momentary things
Lest we forget, we will never be kings
So we dare not scoff at the one in the dirt
Or brush off another’s misfortune or hurt
We all are simply fellow-men
Part of a much, much greater plan
Than this life of momentary mystery
Tomorrow today will be history
All of its moments, but steppingstones in a sea
Leading to the brink of eternity

I posted this poem on my
anotherporch blog and as I posted it
So many parts of Proverbs and Eccles. came to my mind….
Instruction and analysis of these moments……
This thing called Life …………

I decided to post it here with a few verses
Following this heading in my bible

….the conclusion of the matter……
(after writing Proverbs and Ecclesiastes)

Not only was the Teacher wise, but
He also imparted knowledge to the people.
He pondered and searched out and set in order
many proverbs. The Teacher searched to find
just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true.
The words of the wise are like goads,
Their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails……given by one Shepherd.
Be warned my son, of anything in addition to them.
Of making many books there is no end
And much study wearies the body.
Now all has been heard;
Here is the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God, keep His commandments
For this is the whole duty of man.
For God will bring every deed into judgment,
Including every hidden things,
Whether it is good or evil.

Eccles.12:9-14

The Cost.........

So many lives lost
This is the cost
To protect and preserve our freedom
But One death on Calvary
Sets every man free
And reserves us a place in His Kingdom

so that He might bring us to God,
having been put to death in the flesh,
but made alive in the spirit; 1 Pet. 3:18

In His Service.....

Some days I don’t feel like facing
The toil of another day
But the minutes and hours are racing
And soon will have melted away
I linger in the warmth of the covers
For another minute or two
As I begin to think over
All the work I need to do
And I start to feel quite weary
Before the day has begun
The sky, still dark and dreary
In a sunless dawn
Then Someone reminds me gently
Of His tender love and care
There is no load so heavy
That He has not promised to share
He reminds me that He never leaves me
And He will provide for today
Wherever I go He sees me
And walks with me all the way
There is no task too futile
No matter how small it may seem
If we remember, we’re His child
And doing it all for Him

This was a little poem in the Daily Bread last week…..

God often uses lowly things
His purpose to fulfill
Because it takes a humble heart
To carry out His will. D De Haan

Come to me all you who labor
And are heavy-laden
And I will give you rest. Matt. 11:28

Yes, Lord

You cradle in your gracious hand
Each soft and trembling dawn
The wind and waves heed Your command
We see Your touch upon
Each fragile bloom that clothes the field
Or lofty mountain peak
Nature in its glory yields……
In awe, we see You speak

You could part the great Red sea
And softened Pharoah’s heart
Until Your people were set free
You held those walls apart
You fed them with Your manna
In the bare wilderness
And yet I cringe and stammer
When all you want is ‘yes’

You sealed the mouth’s of lions
You stood within the flame
As in a fiery furnace
Faithful three honored Your name
You slew the mighty giant
Saved Jonah in a fish
Oh, why am I defiant?
When all You want is ‘yes’

Why, in doubt’s dark hour
Or in my stubbornness
Do I resist Your power?
When all You want is ‘yes’
The One who holds the stars in place
Took on a robe of flesh
And died, to save us by His grace
Now all You want is ‘yes’

…yes Lord, send me, yes I’ll go
Yes Lord, I will do it
If You send me then I know
That You will guide me through it…….
I"m a sinner, weak, defiled
My wisdom, foolishness
God, help me trust you as a child
Enough to whisper ‘yes’

One Day at a Time.......

So many pitfalls seek to ensnare
Fear, worry, doubting and hopeless despair
We get so weary in our daily climb
Forgetting to live one day at a time

One day at a time our God will provide
We don’t need to see to the other side
Tomorrow has quite enough cares of its own
One day at a time He will make His will known

Today is the day that the Lord has made
We will rejoice and be glad in it
One day at a time He supplies our need
Oh, we serve a most awesome God indeed

One day at a time, oh God help us trust
For Your will is perfect and Your way is just
He gives us just enough strength to climb
Closer to Him, one day at a time

One day at a time, not enough for tomorrow
Oh God help me never its burdens to borrow
Lest I overlook the all the love that You shed
Because I’m looking back, or looking ahead
